FAQ
What is Invisalign?
As a clear alternative to traditional metal braces, Invisalign uses a series of transparent plastic aligners to straighten one’s smile. It’s essential that the aligners are worn 22 hours a day; they can be taken out to eat and brush your teeth. You also may remove them temporarily for special occasions such as a job interview, school pictures or wedding.
Is Invisalign comfortable?
In general, yes. You may, however, experience minor discomfort at different times such as when your teeth are moving or when you place and remove the aligners. Unlike metal braces, Invisalign won’t irritate the mouth, causing ulcers.
Why do you choose to offer Invisalign?
As the system uses clear aligners, it’s not visible in the mouth. Invisalign is also easy to wear. Thanks to the aligners being removable, you can eat what you want. That’s not the case with metal braces.
How long will my treatment take?
As every patient is different, we won’t know for sure until we provide an evaluation. Your treatment time could be as little as six months or up to 18 months. The length of time depends on many factors:
- The type of orthodontic issue you have
- How committed you are to keeping appointments
How compliant you are about wearing and caring for your aligners
Will wearing the aligners affect my speech?
When you begin to wear Invisalign, you may have a slight lisp when you talk. With a bit of practice speaking out loud, you will begin to notice an improvement. Before you know it, your speech will return to normal.
What about cheaper brands on the market?
Since Invisalign patents were released a few years back, other companies use similar technology to manufacture aligners. Invisalign, however, has provided the longest years of evidence of consistent results. With new aligner systems on the market, only time will tell how successful they will be.
Can you provide me with a quote over the phone?
No; the reason for this is we need to evaluate you first to determine if you will need a lengthier treatment time. For example, if your misalignment is severe, you likely will require an extended course of treatment. If in your case it’s necessary that your teeth shift more, your treatment will typically cost more.
