Children’s Dental Care Near Matcham
Many of the dental problems we experience during adulthood first begin as a child. Through early intervention and preventative care, we can help your child enjoy a healthier smile for life. Some of the beneficial children’s services we offer include the following:
- Orthodontic Evaluations: These are provided to monitor your child’s orofacial and jaw growth.
- Protective Fissure Sealants: Block out cavity-causing bacteria and make brushing more effective.
- Early Braces Treatment: Promote healthy tooth alignment and TMJ function.
- Routine Exams and X-rays: Intercept cavities during their earliest stages.
- Professional Fluoride Treatments: Remineralise enamel after each scale and clean to make it more resistant to decay.
- Hygiene and Education: A gentle clean and guidance related to daily oral hygiene habits are given.
- Dental Restorations: These consist of minimally-invasive fillings, crowns and extractions to address active oral disease or infection.
As children grow, their dental needs change. From teething to losing baby teeth and welcoming permanent ones, our team provides care suited to each stage. Regular visits also allow our child dentist near Matcham to monitor jaw development, bite patterns, and oral habits such as thumb-sucking or prolonged pacifier use, addressing them early to prevent complications later on.
When to Schedule Their First Checkup
Most dental experts recommend bringing your child to the dentist from the moment their first teeth come in, or at least six months after. While these early visits are quite simple, they help to familiarise your child with the dental environment to reduce the risk of anxiety later on. We use these opportunities to educate parents about children’s dental care to help reduce their child’s risk for preventable dental problems as they grow.
We encourage parents to view these visits as part of overall wellness, much like routine health checkups. Our child dentist near Matcham can also provide dietary advice (for example, reducing sugary snacks and drinks) and demonstrate brushing and flossing techniques suitable for your child’s age. Establishing good habits early lays the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
As soon as your child is ready to sit comfortably in the chair (usually by 2-3 years of age) we can book a routine checkup every six months. We’ll work at your child’s pace to provide age-appropriate cleans, oral hygiene education and nutritional guidance.

Child Dental Benefits Scheme Accepted
Our practice accepts CBDS benefits for all children’s dentistry services. Children who qualify for coverage are typically able to apply $1,132 in benefits to their oral health needs every two years.
To be eligible for the CDBS, your child must:
- Be aged 2 to 17 years for at least 1 day of the calendar year.
- Be eligible for Medicare on the day of service.
- Get, or be part of a family getting, certain Australian Government payments.
You can check if your child is eligible by logging onto your MyGov account, calling Medicare on 132 011 or ask us in practice.
If your child is eligible, our friendly front desk team can guide you through the process and help you make the most of the available benefits. We believe that quality dental care should be accessible to every child, and the CDBS is a great way to ensure that regular checkups and essential treatments remain within reach for families.

Angela NimmoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I wanted to find a local dentist after moving to the coast. I found Seabreeze Dental and am very happy with my choice. I’ve had a checkup followed up by fillings and ceramic overlays. Dr Dimple explains all the treatment options very well, including costs. She communicated each step during the procedures so I always knew what was coming next. Staff followed up the day after treatment to check that I was feeling okay post-treatment. jpchantal mareTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Most children benefit from a checkup every six months. However, depending on your child’s oral health and risk of decay, your dentist may recommend more frequent visits.
The first visit is gentle and short. Our child dentist near Matcham will check your child’s teeth and gums, discuss brushing and dietary habits, and help your child feel relaxed in the dental chair.
Dental X-rays use very low radiation levels and are taken only when necessary. We also use modern digital X-ray technology, which minimises exposure while providing detailed images to support accurate diagnosis.
Encourage regular brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, limit sugary snacks and drinks, and schedule routine dental checkups. Fissure sealants and fluoride treatments can also help protect teeth from decay.
If your child complains of pain, rinse their mouth with warm water and gently floss around the affected tooth to remove any debris. Avoid placing medication directly on the tooth or gums. Contact your dentist to arrange an examination as soon as possible.
Talk about dental visits positively and avoid using words that might cause fear. Reading storybooks about the dentist or role-playing a dental visit at home can help your child feel more at ease. Our friendly team will also ensure the experience is gentle and reassuring.
